Cookie and Muffin, our capybara boys at Reaseheath Mini Zoo remain extremely popular with all our visitors. As we’ve had so many enquiries about booking an experience with them, we thought an update was due.
Back in April we started a waiting list for capybara encounter bookings. The list was quickly closed as we were inundated with hundreds of responses! The team have been working their way through, offering encounter purchases on a first come first served basis. We are currently taking bookings into the start of 2027.
So what’s next?
The plan currently is to reopen the waiting list again soon, (hopefully by the end of September, check social media for updates) however we won’t be able to offer encounters to those interested until we have worked our way through the previous list, so your ongoing patience is appreciated.
As a small zoo, our team must balance offering experiences to interested visitors with our main priority of the health and welfare of our animals. As a result we do have to limit close contact with them. We open to the public during weekends and school holidays, and the boys are on show to visitors so even if you don’t get the chance to come and meet them personally you can still see them in their enclosure.
Are there other options?
Other animal encounter options are available in the run up to December! We also offer gift vouchers with 12 months expiry from the date of purchase, meaning they can be booked at a later date.
