“I studied at Reaseheath for seven years alongside working in the industry. After my degree I was promoted to Contracts Manager with a local landscape contractor and continued in that role for some years before returning to Reaseheath, this time as a Course Manager in Landscape Design and Construction.
“I became a lecturer because I wanted to inspire students to progress and take advantage of the opportunities on offer. I twice led the design team at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park and trained and supported contestants through the WorldSkills UK landscaping competitions.
“I was a WorldSkills UK silver medallist myself and I’ve always tried to promote the benefits of the competitions and training programmes, particularly the masterclasses with leading employers.
“I’m now back in the industry, managing high end projects for a leading landscape construction company with over 100 staff. Horticulture is thriving, with prospects in many directions – research, design, construction or maintenance – to name just a few.”
